Some missions are time sensitive and require you to complete the task within a specified time frame/duration. If the mission is not completed within the time frame, this mission will disappear completely from yours 'Missions' and you will not get another attempt to complete mission.
Therefore, any progress made on this mission will also disappear. So it's very important if you begin a time limited mission that you complete it within the set duration.
